NUT Teachers' Strike - Tuesday 5 July
As you may be aware, the National Union of Teachers has voted to take discontinuous strike action with the first strike day taking place on the 5 July.
The strike action is "to seek to persuade the Secretary of State for Education to protect pay and working conditions in all state funded schools and to increase presently inadequate funding levels" in school budgets (NUT Trade Union).
The action (a one day strike) will result in class or whole school closures across the country.
I am not in a position at this moment in time to inform you whether your child/ren's class teacher will be striking on the 5 July, however please consider your options with regards to alternative arrangements if your child/ren's teacher were to strike.
We will inform you as soon as possible regarding a partial school closure.
Our Annual Presentation Evening is scheduled to take place on the 5 July; however I can assure you that this event will not be affected by the strike action. No decision has yet been made regarding our other scheduled events, including the Year 3 Music Roadshow.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Mr Connell.
